Jacko pulled out his phone, pressed a few buttons, and waited.

“Who are you calling?”

“Constance. Let's see if she wants to see the photos.”

“Right. Not holding my breath. Bizzy pulled out her own phone. “I should call my father.”

“Why?

“Not sure, but those two guys with Dougie were not officers of the Pullen Pointe police force.”

“You said they looked like feds.”

“I think Ralph was up to something more than copying famous pieces of jewelry.”

Michelangelo was outside the window again, and Luigi was inside the window barking at him.

“Just wondering, did you feed the cat?” Bizzy asked.

"Yup."

Bizzy searched the room for her phone and then pressed the "favorite" button of her parents’ number: a Facebook post where only their mouths appeared.

Quint answered the phone in his usual gruff voice. “What?”

“Dad, it’s me,” Bizzy said, rolling her eyes, “and if you check your caller ID, you’ll see it comes up '#1 daughter.'”

“Hi, Bizzy,” said Quint.

“You want to video chat?”

“Nah, your mother isn’t here. She’s the one who cares about that.”

“You don’t want to see me, Daddy?”

“You want me to FaceTime?”

“Actually, yeah, I might need to show you something.” Bizzy pulled her laptop closer. “Accept the FaceTime call, Dad.”

Several groans came through the phone. “Okay, I think I got it.” Quint’s 75-year-old face came into close up, with only half his face showing.

“I thought this only happened because Mom was sharing the screen.”

Now his whole face showed in the screen. “Is this better, number one daughter? By the way, someone changed that to Poopy.” He laughed. “Probably my number one grandson.”

Bizzy laughed too. “Seems to me a guy who’s in security should not let others know his phone password.”

He laughed again. “They fight over whose face will be on the screen. By the way, they removed yours.”

Bizzy gave him a look. “I’m going to change your password the next time I’m down there, or you're up here.” She pulled her computer close. “I wanted to ask you a couple of questions.”

“Shoot.” Quint straightened. “This is what a father does.”

“Actually, these questions have more to do with your life in security.”

“Hospital security?”

“No, Dad,” her words were measured here, “the job where you worked for ‘The Company.’”

“Ahhhh,” he said. “Okay, shoot.”

“Let’s say…” Bizzy began.

“Give me the facts, Elizabeth.” She knew he was in "serious mode" when he used her given name and not the nickname he’d given her.

“We had a murder here at Pullen Pointe. An artist, a glass blowing artist, was murdered a few days ago.”

“And you are not involved because you are not the police,” said Quint.

“No, no. Except … I am a witness after the fact.”

“What?”

“I found the body, Dad,” she said. “And he had been shot, four bullets to the chest.”

“That usually does the trick in a murder.” Quint sighed.

“I went to the guy’s house—” She heard her father start to speak. “He lives right where the old MacDougall house used to be.”

Quint shook his head.

“Dad, he has, or had, a cat. And the cat’s hanging around, and I went to get its food.
